If I had a daughter

If I had a daughter,
I would buy her a horse,

and slowly watch them fall in love.
The mystical & the majestic, so deserving
of all her unconditional tears.

I’d watch them jump the endless sunsets,
the gentle rainfall,
my heart skipping in harmony with hers.

And on that last day she gets down,
I’ll thank her for gifting me the joy
in a life I know is my last.

A memory, so sweetly I can take beyond this Earth
and patiently, I will wait for her to visit again.
